Lake Nyos..
On August 21, 1986, a deadly incident occurred in Lake Nyos in the Northern Region. Toxic gas emanating from the lake killed some 1, 834 people along with 3, 500 livestock within a 12-mile radius.

The upper montane forest that fringes the lake grows out over it, so there is little opportunity for terrestrial “water-margin” plants to establish.
